Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on that part of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's a distinct island that lies west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island, although this is not true. Brugel lived in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to become an actor, however she literally outgrew the dancing partners. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that she was 6 foot 1 inch tall. Once I had outgrown my male counterparts I stopped. For Brugel, it was the encouragement of an instructor in drama from her high school which inspired her to begin acting. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out as Anne in the school's annual production. She auditioned and was eventually cast as the lead in Anne of Green Gables. This led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with A Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years since then, Brugel was offered roles in more than 60 productions on both screens, receiving the greatest attention when she landed the character of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 cast of the show and was only seen on occasion, was the only Canadian.
